New Year Honour for Toaha Qureshi

Toaha Qureshi was awarded an Order of the British Empire, MBE, for services to Community Relations in Stockwell.

Toaha is well known to many in Stockwell as a trustee of the Stockwell Green Mosque. He was also a council candidate for the local elections in 2002 for the Labour Party.

He is the chairman of Stockwell Green Youth Project which he established in 1999 to support disenchanted and socially excluded members of the black and minority ethnic communities, particularly young Muslims in the London Borough of Lambeth.

He is also a key figure in the Clapham and Stockwell Faith Forum.
