Stockwell War Memorial, a set on Flickr.

I visited the memorial this morning to inspect damage along with Sheila Dartnell and Naomi Klein. Not only is some of the stonework damaged, there appeared to be an insect infestation in the base of the clock tower.

It is sad that monuments to the memory of war dead should be treated with such disrespect.

Oh yes and its also been the local csught short central Stockwell corner since LABOUR closed the local decades old Binfield Road toilets in late 1988. And look how dynamic local politicians have not been in resolving that problem. Disrespect for the living too.

Those pictures are so beautiful, but so sad at the same time. Every time I see something like this my heart sinks a little.
