Back our fight to improve Stockwell

While cuts of 56% to our budget mean difficult decisions, your Labour councillors are fighting for funding to support improvements in our area using money from new developments including in Nine Elms.

Your local Labour councillors led a large consultation which got feedback from over 650 local people in street surveys or online. Over 400 local projects were suggested and these are now being mapped and examined for feasibility. This has been developed into a Co-operative Local Investment Plan (or ‘CLIP’) which will be published in March.

Local residents and councillors have set the following priorities:

•        A focus on teenagers;

•        Enhancing and maintaining parks and local open spaces;

•        Helping people live healthier lives;

•        Improving employment opportunities and access to skills and training.

We still want to get more ideas from local residents, but examples of some of the projects that are likely to be implemented in the next 5 years include:

•        A dedicated Neighbourhood Champion

•        Outreach programme with one-to-one employment and skills training

•        New play equipment and green spaces in our estates and streets

•        Digi-buddies training scheme extended

•        Outdoor gym equipment on our estates

•        Binfield Road street market near the tube station

•        Street improvements e.g. on Stockwell Lane

•        Tackling fly tipping in hotspots e.g. on Albert Square
